Trying to figure out the best way to relax after a long day, a long week or maybe it has been just too long since you took a moment for yourself?
It is important to be taking time for yourself every once in a while. It doesn’t need to be an expensive day at the Spa or a trip away with your friends or loved one. It is about you, with quick easy solutions. A rejuvenated and rested mind will brighten your outlook on each day and relieve the stress gathered during a given day. Taking a moment to love and pamper yourself will make you a happier person to be around. Here are a few tips for relaxing and rejuvenating your body and soul. You can find variations of these tips from many different resources, but here is our advice for each one:
- Exercise
Take a moment in your busy day or week, to work out. Dragging your feet will be a common feeling that you will experience until it becomes a habit. The work out doesn’t need to be intense, just some physical activity that you don’t normally part take in. This will also help you feel healthier.
- Music
Turn the music up, don’t be shy. Sing in your car at the top of your lungs, dance around your living room or sit down and relax to the sounds of an orchestra playing. Let the music take over your mind and body – pretty soon you’ll be soothed and engrossed in feeling.
- Laughter
Laughter is the best medicine. Enough said.
- Sunlight and environment
The environment that you find yourself in can cause tension or be a great place for relaxation. Imagine yourself at work. What is the best way to relax and relieve that built up stress? By stepping outside and enjoying the natural light and sunlight. You can all relate to the comic strip where the baby falls asleep or relaxes in the sun beam coming through the window.
- Water therapy
Water is one of the greatest ways to relax. It can be a great addition to an office, a doctor’s waiting room, or a home and garden. Some of the greatest way to get the water therapy is through a water fountain or soundtracks of moving water.
- Special meals
Make your favorite meal or go out to your favorite restaurant. Treat yourself to a special dinner. Even though you think Saturdays are good for a quick bite to eat, this would be the ideal time to make a great meal. You have the time to cook a few extra things or run to the grocery store if you realize you don’t have the ingredients you need.
- Meditation and positive visualization
Turn off the mind with some meditation and positive visualization. Relax the mind and body think of something beautiful or your favorite place to go. Concentrate on your breathing and your mind will shut out the thoughts you don’t need.
- Do nothing
Do nothing – absolutely nothing. Can you do it? I know I can’t. I have a hard time doing nothing, but when you finally accomplish it; it feels wonderful. Take a weekend and don’t make any plans, don’t do any cleaning and just sit back. Do something you haven’t done in a while.
- Treat yourself
Treat yourself. That’s easy to do. Is it easy to do without the extra guilt or the thoughts that you shouldn’t be doing something? Get a haircut, a massage, a new tool to complete a project. Or treat yourself to a bowl of ice cream and a night with the phone off of the hook. Treat yourself to some peace and quiet.
- Take a break
A break from reality. Go on a quick trip. Go visit someone you haven’t seen in a while, enjoy a over-nighter at a near by small town motel or bread and breakfast. Getting out of your house for a quick trip can be just the trick.
