Time to Clean your Outdoor Fountains

Now that is is mid-June, most of us, even those of us in WI, have been enjoying our outdoor and garden fountains for a month or two now.  In order to keep them looking fresh and beautiful it is time for a little water fountain TLC!  This is generally easy to do and will prolong the life of your outdoor fountains.

Algae and white scale build up is common in outdoor water fountains because generally hard water is used.  No matter what you put in your fountain, both algae and calcium deposits will happen over time but there are some great products that can be used to prolong build up and keep your garden fountains looking clear and fresh.

There are several fountain care products available and depending on they size fountain you have or if you have animals or birds that frequent your outdoor fountain your choice of the best product may vary.  The Care Free Enzymes Fountain Care is the most popular for outdoor fountains because it is all  natural and a safe product for birds, plants and wild life.  This fountain product is simple to use and will keep your outdoor fountains fresh and prolong scale and algae build up.  Another great water fountain product for any fountain is the Fountain Fresh.  This is great for larger outdoor fountains because one scoop can treat up to 25 gallons.  Fountain Fresh is also safe for birds, plants and wildlife as it is a non-toxic water clarifier and will keep the water feature clear of surface stains, algae and green water.  These are just 2 examples of great fountain care products as they are an overall preventer of both, algae and hard water stains, there are many others that are also great such as Foam preventers, Fountain Block for large fountains, and No More Algae.

Keep in mind, these products are wonderful and will help keep your outdoor fountains fresh this summer but you will still have to clean your fountains periodically.  Find outdoor fountain care tips and be sure to visit our updated Water Fountain FAQ’s, Relaxation Tips and About Us page for a lot of great information on water fountains and relaxation.
