Why Wind Chimes Remind Me of Being a Kid

The sound of wind chimes always makes me nostalgic. I remember being a little girl, playing in my backyard, and there were some old wind chimes strung up way, way up in our huge pecan tree. Every time the wind blew, you could hear them tinkle. It was a magic sound to accompany a magic world, and always will be part of the soundtrack of my childhood.

The wind chimes in our tree were old and rusty, and who knows how long they’d been up there- or who had even ventured up that high to hang them (unless they got hung on a branch when it was lower to the ground, and grew up with the tree!)

There are some really beautiful, unique and artistic wind chimes on the market today. Some of my personal favorites are ones featuring crescent moons or fairies (perhaps even a combination of both!) I’ve seen neat ones with a little red barn at the top, with various farm animals hanging down between the metal chimes. I’ve also seen cool, contemporary ones featuring dragons or skulls, or even holiday themed ones featuring little jack-o-lanterns. The possibilities are virtually endless!

Perhaps this is another reason why wind chimes remind me of “the good old days” of childhood. Anything was possible then, and the world was full of wonder and magic. To me the tinkling sound of wind chimes floating on a breeze will always sound like fairies and stardust blowing in the wind.  Shop wind chimes today!
